South Louisiana talent comes in all shapes, sizes and disciplines. Whether it is in the music, the food, the dancing, the drinking (ok, that’s a stretch) or in the case of who we recently had the opportunity of working with…art! When Intec Security Solutions got the call to install a security system, cameras and audio at the newly opened Toups Bernard Musical Brushes at 2823 Johnston Street in Lafayette, Louisiana, obviously we wanted the best of both worlds. To not only have the Intec name on the door, but to commission an original painting by world renowned artist, Tony Bernard, was a goal from day one.
Since beginning his professional career, Tony has been commissioned to produce original art for local and regional festivals such as Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival, Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, Festivals Acadien et Creoles, International Rice Festival, Yambilee Festival, Gueydan Duck Festival, Atchafalya Basin Festival and the 2015 Washington, D.C. Mardi Gras Poster. Professional athletic teams, NASCAR and SEC and Sun Belt sporting events. He has created lifelike wildlife pieces that have been entered in the Louisiana Duck Stamp Competition, placing 2nd, 3rd, and 2nd in the years 2003-2005 respectively. Tony is the winner of the 2007-2008 Louisiana Duck Stamp and 2014 – 2015 Louisiana Duck Stamp. In addition to wildlife and sporting events, Tony is gaining respect and recognition as a portrait artist. His mesmerizing portrait of the legendary Johnny Cash has garnered a tremendous amount of admiration and always draws a crowd at the many art shows in which he participates. In 2008, Tony was commissioned to paint the official portrait of Governor Bobby Jindal that hangs in the Governor’s Mansion for the State of Louisiana and a portrait of First Lady Supriya Jindal. 2013, Tony was commissioned to paint recording artist Hunter Hayes.
Below is the completed painting presented to Intec Security Solutions on January 20, 2016. At the top of this blog is the Intec logo, which you may have seen around town on our trucks, our yard signs, at one of the Parade of Homes we have participated in, or on the shirts of Maddie’s Footprints ( http://www.maddiesfootprints.org) or SJS Louisiana (http://www.sjslouisiana.com/), which are both organization’s we proudly support. We sometimes use what we call “just the circle with the i” (remove the “ntec”), once you see what I’m talking about take another look at the painting…it’s the Intec logo!! Pretty cool, right?!?
Side note: Toups Bernard Musical Brushes is a collaboration between Tony Bernard and Grammy Award winning artist, Wayne Toups. The store features works from both men, as well as, cool stuff like shirts, hats, stickers, etc. Go by and check it out…tell them the guys from Intec sent you!
